Day 7 - July 11th - By Krysia

We woke up early around 7am and started getting ready for our show at the night refuge house in Legnica. We got dressed in Przeworsk stroje and hopped on the bus. When we arrived at the shelter we discovered that they really didn't have a place for us to dance. They showed us the gravelly parking lot and then the super slippery indoor room. Finally, we decided to dance on the brick drive way and cut the number of pairs in both dances., because there just wasn't any room. so first we did Charleston in 3 pairs and Przeworsk in 4. Considering all the issues, it was a very successful performance. After we performed, we had our audience join in to dance Charleston. The kids loved it! Then we returned to the hotel for lunch. After that we drove into Legnica for an ice cream social with the director/organizer of the festival, Pan Jerzy Stazynski. We ate delicious berries and ice cream as we listened to the history of the Lemko people and how the festival in funded. We were all surprised to know that the budget for the festival starts at zero every year and depends on grants and donors to make up the $100,000 needed to put on the festival. After we went on a quick tour of Legnica. We went to the Church of Peter and Paul and the Castle, and various other churches (one was a Franciscan klastor). Then we returned to the hotel to quickly dress for the official tour party with all the other groups. First we had kolacja: eggs, sledzie, pack, salatka. Then the dance party began with the Slovakian band. During this time Brittany had her mishap. She broke her wine glass and cut her arm. She had to get stitches! but the party continued and we danced to all types of music until late. Around midnight we returned and piled into bed.
